Oh my gosh, I miss America so much! I’ve been living abroad for the past year and, even though life is more convenient when your apartment is paid for and public transportation is top-notch, I miss American food (hot dogs, hamburgers, pizza), I want to take a road trip to the Grand Canyon and stop by every diner and tourist trap on the way, I want to say the Pledge of Allegiance and sing “Fifty Nifty United States.” I guess patriotism develops by default when you’re away from your home country for too long.

I’m not sure if Community is doing good or bad for the reputation of community colleges. Though the idea of school-wide blanket/pillow fights must have increased enrollment somewhat.

My mother thinks the government is always listening, even to Skype conversations. 

I know this because she considers much of what I say to be too radical. Talking about the news is hardly radical. I think she’s just paranoid, but I worry about the genetic extent of that paranoia :(
